"Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals."- Martin Luther King, Jr.

Jim knows first hand how true this statement is. Having served as a police officer for two decades, Jim was directly and regularly involved in the administration of justice through the enforcement of the Law and continues to live by this statement through his practice.

As Canadians, we are fortunate to have a Justice system that, while not perfect, strives to balance the many needs of society and to maintain the integrity and fairness of our Courts. As a police officer, Jim worked hard to maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity and fairness and continues to do so while representing those who find themselves within the system.

Born and raised in Scarborough Ontario, Jim originally began his career in policing shortly after graduating with honours in Law Enforcement from Seneca College in King City. He moved to London and proudly served the next two decades as a Police Constable and Detective with the London Police Service.

During his policing career, Jim served many years as a front line officer on the street, as well as serving as an Intoxylizer Technician, a Training Officer, an Undercover Narcotics Detective, a Drug Expert, affiant of over one hundred search warrants, a Crisis Negotiator and a Traffic Officer and Collision Reconstructionist.

Jim has had experience dealing with a wide range of Criminal and Civil investigations, and has worked closely with many government and civilian bodies as well as many community organizations. Jim has a great deal of experience in training and lecturing on a variety of topics and has developed and delivered training courses and lectures for groups ranging from students and community organizations, to television documentaries and courses of instruction for the United States D.E.A. (Drug Enforcement Agency).

Jim has always been community focused, providing assistance to those in need. Apart from his work in the community as a police officer, Jim has coached sports for underprivileged youth and engaged in community events for groups such as Mothers Against Drunk Driving, The Lansdowne Children's Center, Animalert, Habitat for Humanity, Neighborhood Watch, Taraboom Children's Foundation and Block Parents. Jim has also assisted local schools with community events and fund raising.

While serving his community as a police officer, Jim attended the Faculty of Law at the University of Western Ontario, where he obtained his Law Degree while continuing to work full time. After graduation, Jim mentored under London lawyer Gordon D. Cudmore in a multidisciplinary firm prior to his Call to the Bar.
